On Tuesday, the military’s media wing ISPR said that Security forces had eliminated an Afghan individual in an anti-terrorist operation recently carried out in Balochistan’s district Zhob.
In a statement released by ISPR said, “On January 11, 2025, an Afghan national involved in Terrorism in Pakistan was killed in Sambaza area of Zhob district of Balochistan.”
“The individual was identified as Muhammad Khan Ahmedkhel, Son of Haji Qasim Dawran Khan, resident of village Bilorai, District Wazekhwa, Paktika Province, Afghanistan” stated by the ISPR.
The statement further said that the body of the slain militant was handed over to Afghan officials on Monday.
“Such incidents are irrefutable evidence of the involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist activities in Pakistan,” said ISPR
“The interim Afghan government is expected to fulfill its obligations and deny the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for perpetuating acts of terrorism against Pakistan.” ISPR concluded.
Ever since Taliban’s rise to power after the departure of U.S and Coalition forces from Afghanistan, multiple terrorist organizations have used its soil for refuge and to launch terrorist attacks inside Pakistan. Due to rising terrorist attacks in the country, Islamabad has voiced concerns that the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) uses Afghan soil to launch attacks in Pakistan. Pakistan has asked Kabul to deny such safe havens to terrorists launching attacks on Pakistan but Kabul has shown no interests in addressing the issue.
The relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan are tense these days due to recent border clashes and airstrikes in Paktika Province of Afghanistan resulting in multiple deaths.
In an hours-long meeting between the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir and multiple members of several political parties addressing the security issue. They showed concern over the dire situation of law and order in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Due to rising attacks, the army has stepped up the ante. It has increased operations in Khyber and Balochistan to curb any extremists and stop any infiltration attempts by the terrorists through the Afghan border.
